Taken with a Sony Nex-7, Sony 18-200mm Lens at 18mm F5.6, 30 sec ISO 100. Finding a good location close to Little Rock can be a challenge this time of year. I was hoping to catch a good sunrise from the summit of Petit Jean, but on this particular morning, the sun and clouds were […]
Taken with a Canon 1DS MKII, Canon 24-70 Lens @ 24mm, F11, iso 100. If you have the time, one of the best short hikes in Arkansas is along Falling Water Creek. You can find plenty of small waterfalls along the way. The best place to start is from the Falling Water Falls waterfall on […]
Taken with a Nikon D800, Nikon 14-24 lens @ 14mm, F 8, iso 100, exposure bracketed in 4 series. Petit Jean State Park (which was able to stay open throughout all of the stupid government shutdown) has some wonderful places for sunrise/sunset photography. The mountain has one long section that runs along the length of […]
Taken with a Canon 1ds MKII, iso 100, Canon 24-70 lens @24mm F8, for approximately 3 seconds. Gunner Pool campground is one of the scenic gems tucked away in the middle of the Arkansas Ozark mountains. This photograph was taken in 2008 in the middle of a wonderfull fall photographic season. The night before it […]
Taken in two frames with a Phase One IQ100 and Phase One 35mm LS lens, raw files developed in Capture One, panorama stitching in Lightroom. We had driven up to 6 finger falls to attempt a night shoot, which did not work out due to the clouds that rolled in, however during the sunset, the […]

Taken with a Canon 1ds-MKII, Zork adapter, 35mm Pentax FA lens, F11, iso 100 for approximately 1 second. The Cossatot River is one of the great scenic spots in the southwestern corner of Arkansas. The Cossatot runs due south and eventually creates Lake Greason. From there is continues to run into Millwood lake, one of […]
Taken with a Canon 5D MKII, Canon 14mm F 2.8 lens, in a bracketed series of exposures @ iso 200 This one is a special shot as it was one of those photographs that was just pure luck. I was up on the Buffalo River with Bob Shull, mainly to work the night skies, and […]
With the introduction of the full frame Pentax K1, Ricoh Imaging appears to have made a giant stride forwards with technology, however it appears that they overlooked one critical issue with the 36MP Sony sensor–White Dots with longer exposures. I have worked with the K1 now for several months and have found it to […]
When Sony Announced the A7r I was very impressed. In the past Sony has produced some very impressive camera solutions and I was almost moved enough by the A99 DSLR to purchase one. However my local dealer, Bedford Photo in Little Rock Arkansas, pointed me toward the fact that Sony was working on a full […]
This only applies to photographers that purchased a IQ260 (possibly IQ280) early in the product life. I would say back to about July to October of 2013. One of the features of the IQ2 backs is the built in Wifi capabilities. When you first get the back, you will notice that the top has a […]
I can remember back when I was a fan of collecting watches, when someone purchased a new watch, they always published an “unboxing”. I never did it for a watch, but did go ahead for the IQ260. I am pretty sure this is the first one in Arkansas and I am very happy to be […]
I have been using the IQ100 now for several months, and have noticed that there are some interesting facets to the dynamic range of this digital back. Lets take a more detailed look at this particular image taken on the Buffalo River, in Arkansas The IQ100 is of course the first 100MP digital camera ever […]
In 2015, Arkansas did not present a good color display really anywhere throughout the state. Since July Arkansas has been short on rainfall and the month of September and first half of October no measurable rain fell in the state. Most of the trees just turned brown. There were some spots that held OK color, […]
I have found that working at night in Arkansas can bring out some amazing photographic opportunities, like the photograph below. Since early in 2008 I have been fascinated by one facet of night photography—the creation of star trail photographs. Capturing the motion of the earth over a period of time and blending the […]
With their release of the new Surface Pro 3, Microsoft has definitely created a winner. This new form factor with a larger LCD, and thinner form factor will be turning a lot of heads. However there seems to be one glitch, WiFi drops. I have had my Surface Pro 3 now for about 2 weeks […]

Springtime flow at Falling water creek in Arkansas
Falling water creek in the springtime is a favorite of many people. You can stop along forest road 1205 and enjoy the view from many angles. This is a classic Arkansas style swimming hole.
